AVTech DVR's, control of keys via RS-232, anyone done this?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone succeeded in controlling an AVTech DVR by connecting the RS-232 connection to a PC?

I think the main difficulty is finding a utility to generate the sequence of characters needed.

For those of you who want to try it go to my website and down load the manual for the AVC 760 (CPCam 501) if you do not have a copy.

Go to page 52, and you will see the chart that has the function, and the hex code equivalent, and the ASCII equivalent.

Page 51 has the pin outs for the RS 232 TX, and RX

Let me know if you made it work!

RATS!

I was hoping you came up with some kind of program that even Rory would drool to see!

I was wondering if you could do some kind of IR to RS 232 converter, and then learn the IR codes from a hand held remote for the DVR.

You can use an RS 232 to IR converter as well

RS 232 control over the internet

Here is a 16 channel controller

OH well.

Maybe someone else will put something together!
