cothew 0 Posted January 4, 2008 I think NVR is generally used for enterprise monitoring system. However one of my customers are requested 4CH low cost NVR system with PoE feature. Actually MC of NVR can be low cost as much as DVR but to compare TCO between with analog 4CH system (4CH DVR, 4 analog cameras, cabling) and 4CH network system (4CH NVR, 4 low-cost IP cameras, PoE, cabling), network system is a little bit higher that analog one. Furthermore network system privides poor performance than analog system because of network delay. The only thing that network system is better is easy installation. What do you think about low-cost 4CH NVR?
rory 0 Posted January 4, 2008 I would bother unless it is Megapixel.
501 0 Posted January 4, 2008 I agree, the cameras are too expensive for just IP if they are not megapixel. The plus side is that in the future, Megapixel upgrades would be easy.
Troy 0 Posted January 4, 2008 PC- based NVR can be cost effective. All you need is to install the right software that supports your POE IP camera. Low cost IP camera with good quality: try Taiwanese brand like Vivotek, ACTi, or Zavio, etc. If you need to know software brands I will PM you.
TK 0 Posted January 8, 2008 NICE offers a freeware version of NVR software that can be installed on a pc. It works well and is fairly easy to use. I will look for a link and post it once I have my 5 legitimate posts. http://www.nice.com/nicevision/freenvr/
