maeldun 0 Posted January 8, 2008 Hi I have setup my system and can view it remotely, but my dns entry gets blocked everynight due to abuse. I check the logs and shows attempts to update every 15 minutes of so which caused it. My assumption is the Clover DVR 4170 is the one to blame but how to address this issue? Kiwi 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Any chance you set up the same DDNS update client in the router? In my case I didn't realize I had both going and as a result the AVtech DVR showed many failed attempts in it's log. If you can't fix it and don't have a local PC to do the job you may have to pay for a static IP, if offered by your ISP.
rory 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Yep if it is setup in the router and you are getting that report, it could be a bad router. You could try to switch the router, or like mentioned get a static IP.
maeldun 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Well right now its not on a router, I have static IP. The DVR is plugged directly into the modem until tonight when I get a router. The modem assigns an internal ip. I have DMZ setup on the ip for the DVR. Perhaps when I move it to a router it will get better.
Kiwi 0 Posted January 9, 2008 (edited) The static IP you refer to is the DVR internal address I assume. Clearly if you had a static *internet* IP than you don't need DDNS service. Did you get a router with a DDNS feature? That would almost for sure work, but then disable the DVR DDNS. Edited January 9, 2008 by Guest
rory 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Sounds like the modem is setup as a router. You have a static though, I would use that instead, you wont need to rely on a third party service, and also it is quicker connecting. You shouldn't need to use the DMZ, just forward the ports. a-casanova 0 Posted February 25, 2008 If you do discover that you don't have a Static Public IP, usually one given to you by your ISP on request usually more costly. You have to assign only one device to update the DDNS server, in other words let your router or DVR update your DDNS server such as noip.com or Dydns.com but not both like others here have stated. Once this is done it should work, if the DDNS account gets locked or redflagged create a new one with a new DNS name.
EagleEye 0 Posted February 26, 2008 Pay for a custom dns from dyndns dot com . Its what i do and alot of cctv companies do that rather than making their clients pay an extra 50.00 or so a month for a static ip, when you can have 75 aname dns entries (hosts) for 30.00 a year.
