dubwiser 0 Posted January 29, 2008 My mistake. I'm not trying to sell anything, I just wanted some feedback. I have to buy a large quantity of cameras and I was wondering if this may be a good choice. Rory, you've mentioned ExView bullet cameras in the past. This one is a SuperHAD and it produces a great image(at least the lot of them I bought years back) I dont need IR. I need a camera that is an easy install. This one is 3.6mm fixed, its durable and very affordable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thx.
mikesus 0 Posted January 30, 2008 If you are looking for a bunch of cameras you might want to check out the ECL-596 I picked one up on a suggestion from Rory in another thread (Thanks Rory!) The specs are a bit lower but the image is very acceptable. If you Google it, the first link is where I bought mine but there are places that are about $10 cheaper (one is a guy in Fl) Unfortunately he was on vacation when I went shopping. dubwiser 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Thanks, Mikesus. Do you know if there is one with higher resolution? I have a little more to spend, but this one would definitely work. Do you have any image captures you could post?

dubwiser 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Looks pretty good. Thanks. I find it interesting that the cameras we are discussing here vary quite a bit in price on different websites. For ex. the first camera I posted is selling for $95 on one site. On another, they want $295 for the exact same camera. Same specs etc. Are the $295 guys on a fishing trip or is the $95 dollar camera different in some way?

Hi, well some sites will be selling it at dealer cost, and then also dont offer any kind of warranty worth mentioning, so need to check on that as well. As all bullet cameras are OEM the prices will vary considerably depending on the seller, plus many cameras from China will be much less than say Korean cameras for example. rory 0 Posted January 30, 2008 NOTE: the AvTech VdeoServer-e doesn't do it justice here is the eclipse ECL-596, top left camera. more.. . As it is low res though, notice how it can be when blown up in full view: (snapshot from raw AVI video without compression)
dubwiser 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Nice. And thats only a 380 lor camera?
rory 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Yes somewhere around that, as I edited my above post with a larger image, you can see that it does get a little bad when blown right up. A high res camera would be crisper, but for the price, I think it works great. Unfortunately I have issues getting the camera these days so I am stuck with other OEM brands which have yet to impress me as much. And ofcourse as it is a color camera and no exview, it needs alot of light.
rory 0 Posted January 30, 2008 ECL-596 top left once again:
mikesus 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Rory, That is about what I see on the screen. When I get a few more $$$ The DVR will get replaced. Unless I fall into another deal like this one: WV-CP484 SECURITY CAMERA W/ WV-LZ62/8 LENS Shipped for around $270 (no its not new, but who needs boxes anyway )
dubwiser 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Got it. Now Im getting somewhere. I am a fan of ExView cams myself. I use an ExView dome from ARM thats looks pretty good in low light.....too pricey for this project though.
mikesus 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Well after only 15 hrs the ECL596 bit the dust. The image was blurry and fuzzy. Pulled it down, and it has a nice fog on the inside (bad seal or?) So it goes back for a refund. Interestingly enough, the guy that I won the auction from had 2 wv-cp484's and I got both for $475. Sometimes things just work out right Now I gotta find some enclosures...
rory 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Dont throw it out. Take the front off and let it dry out for a couple hours. Clean the glass inside and out. Put it back on and tight. Then, check the back where the wire goes into it, seal that with some clear silicone. Seal around the front piece too if it happens again. Cover was just not on tight probably, it happens. cctothetv 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Rory, why are you having problems getting the 596? I can't PM yet, but please contact me. It should not be a problem.
rory 0 Posted January 30, 2008 LOL not me, the other guy. Or do you mean why I cant get it? I will PM you later tonight.

Actually I just bought it, and they will refund it. So that money goes towards the second wv-cp484 Thats why I said sometimes things just work out right

rory 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Yeah but if that other one is second hand off ebay, might have problems with it. Any bullet camera you get can have the same problem if the front cover was not put on tight or was taken off for whatever reason, so best just to check that for now IMO ... but its up to you .. Second hand isn't always a bad thing. This guy is actually pretty close and has a wholesale business where he sells lots of electronics. And it looks like my system will consist of a pair of 484's and a Sanyo 4594. If I don't get the Sanyo, I might have em swap the 596...
rory 0 Posted January 30, 2008 Second hand isn't always a bad thing. When it comes to cameras it normally is though, especially the lenses anyway. The lens could be scratched from improper back focus or handling. The mechanical IR cut filter could be damaged or may not work properly from wear and tear or once again, improper back focus or handling or insertion of the lens, etc etc.

If it was a no warranty auction I would agree... With a decent feedback, a storefront, a warranty and his word that it is in new not used condition, its worth a shot. If not Paypal will take care of it
