ghentry 0 Posted February 2, 2008 This is an 8 channel standalone DVR. The specs read: 8 CH Video Input 8 CH Video Loop Out MEPG4 Internet Enabled Remote Viewer Software 240/120 FPS Viewing / Recording CD Burner Motion Detection My question is on the FPS. Am I understanding this right that you can view the 8 cameras at 30FPS, but only record at 15FPS? Also, on the DVR's that don't come with Hard Drives, is it easy enough to purhase your own and install?
rory 0 Posted February 2, 2008 Yes, that is 30fps in live and 15fps in record, but buyer beware as with some DVRs that 120fps record can be in lower resolution such as 320x240. As to the hard Drives, typically you can use an off the shelf IDE Hard Drive, but that will depend on the DVR. Eg. Some GE DVRs require the drives to be specifically 5400rmp 3.5" IDE Drives. Also there is sometimes a limit on how large a hard drive you can have on a single IDE Channel.

Ya.. also want to highlight..... it's not SOME DVRs record the max framerate in the specs at lower resolution, but it's rather MOST DVRs record the max framerate in the specs at lower resolution.
