rory 0 Posted May 6, 2005 Just Released: StoreSafe-2 Pro units use a unique new compression algorithm that is a hybrid of Wavelet and JPEG2000 that GE refers to as WaveJet compression. The distinct advantage to the WaveJet Compression is that there is approximately a 2:1 increase in HDD space or storage capacity. WaveReader 4.0B is required to connect to these over the WAN/LAN. A: StoreSafe Pro II has a new compression that has lowered the recorded file size. This will allow you to triple the amount of video stored on the hard drive. The new file sizes are Standard-4.0KB, Medium-8.5KB and High-18.5KB. In comparison, the StoreSafe Pro file sizes are Standard-12.5KB, Medium-20KB and High-27.5KB. ----------------------------------------------------------- Q: Can I just flash upgrade my StoreSafe Pro to make it a StoreSafe Pro II? A: Yes, QuickWave will work with the StoreSafe line, including the StoreSafe Pro II. Older versions of QuickWave will not play the video from a new StoreSafe Pro II. ----------------------------------------------------------- Q: I noticed when I save a video file it has a .20d file extension. Is that correct? A: Yes, the StoreSafe Pro II's new compression method saves your video file as a .20d file. Make sure when you go to open a file in WaveReader you select the correct file extention for the version of recorder you are using. ----------------------------------------------------------- Q: I occasionally use WaveBrowser to connect to my units. Will this still work with the StoreSafe Pro II? A: Yes, WaveBrowser will work with the StoreSafe Pro II just as it currently does with other StoreSafe products.
